Own It

What is the point where many projects aim off track? We cerebrate it’s when decision making suits a burden.  Indecision, lack of ownership and unclear reasoning ofttimes thinks of stasis and frustration.  Over the past year, and probable through moving around unitedly , Sachi and I have germinated a system that serves us be rich without pining away time.  It’s a system of ownership - of being in person accountable for the little decisions that contribute to the overall goal.

Too soon in the process, we speak a lot about the goal - the large ideas, the vision.  So, we can fancy how our main roles will chip in. For example,  Sachi (among other things) is our editor. From hacking the audio to stop-action to color correction, she possesss it.  Once she sets about the process, all the decisions are hers.  She can ever ask for my thoughts, but my input is not expected.  By the time I regard something, it’s more often than not performed and we can iterate from a swelled picture perspective.

The same is reliable for me with the art work. I possess the process of storyboarding and making the artwork. I believe the scenes and how they all go unitedly. But after the bulk of the originative work is made do we fall backward unitedly to progress to decisions before production.  This way, I have a chance to have the vision of the video - a vision that may not be clean-cut until all the pieces fall unitedly. I don”t bother Sachi with the details - I own them.

We expect the same from our clients.  The best projects, the projects that stay on schedule and produce the best outcomes are the ones where the project leader on the client side owns the project. They have the ability to reach decisions and be accountable for their outcomes.

The lesson hither?  Ownership = efficiency, for us at least.  Ownership entail infering the goal and having the confidence to reach main decisions that contribute to it.  It entails not consuming time talking about every step along the way. It implies going work performed speedily so that it can be valuated as a unanimous. It haves in mind being accountable and quick to stand up up for why we got to the decisions we did.

Of course, this isn’t to suppose we don”t collaborate.  When I wrote about being a video making team , iteration was a big theme. When we do get along unitedly to go over, and peculiarly to take a video, everything is open to exchange.  What we have are the chunks that draw up the hale.
